Course Option Four (Room 17L) - (Half Day)

Presented by: John A. Sharpe – J.A.S. Solutions Ltd.
Topics to be covered include:

This short course will cover the types of pumps used for pumping various concentrations of slurries at vastly different flowrates. The impact of the size distribution of the solid particles in the slurry on deposition velocity and pump operating point will be explained. The recommendations contained in ANSI/HI Standard 12.1-12.6-2005, "Rotodynamic (Centrifugal) Slurry Pumps", will be discussed with particular reference to the factors influencing wear rates. The presentation will include the relative merits of different sealing and gland water control systems. Finally, maintenance and operating cost considerations will be illustrated.
